Abstract |
To Yang-Ming Wang’s view of the universe that there is nothing existing beyond the scope of one’s mind, we have proposed from the view-point of vision cognition a novel scientific interpretation and understanding. By virtue of the optical learnings that an object forms an inverted image on our retina of the eye and that the color of an object is related to the optical wavelength of the light incident into the eye, we derive a notion of the so-called mental-image space. We will discuss some of Yang-Ming Wang’s literature about his aforementioned universe-view, in which there is no difference between inner mind and external world such that the observer and all things of the universe are a single entity, is consistent with our notion of mental-image space. Although his universe-view was obtained from his enlightenment while our notion is based on deduction, our notion could act as a very powerful tool toward the reseach of Yang-Ming Wang’s universe view and his other principles. In the last we point out that the recognizing of vision cognition process is an inward investigation of how our mind works. We emphasize that the key point of this paper lies in the interpretation and understanding of Yang-Ming Wang’s saying: “An object exists where our consciousness lies”. |
