Abstract |
This paper aims to uncover the essential connection between the later Heidegger’s concept of Er-eignis and the Taoist concept of tzu-jan. In tracing the origination of the turn (Kehre) in the Heidegger’s way of thinking, it shows in what way Taoism plays a key role. Particularly, it highlights the difference between Heidegger’s early and later uses of the term Er-eignis. All this points to a justification of the Chinese translation of the later Heidegger’s Er-eignis as tzu-jan. Moreover, in terms of the heideggerian hermenutical application of Taoism, this paper indicates a new way to demonstrate its contemporary relevance. |
