Abstract

In order to disclose the content of Zhuangzi’s 莊子endless and unfinished image of the human, this article analyzes three interweaving dimensions: the relationship between heaven and humans, the relationship between humans and humans, and the relationship between things and humans. Through the discussion of these three dimensions, I hope to draw an image of the human from Zhuangzi’s view which shows wandering and transformative subjectivity. This means that subjectivity always keeps subjectifying itself and never stops transforming. From Zhuangzi’s perspective, when humans open themselves toward the world, they then trigger the transformative engine and enter endless existence. The depiction of the whole picture of the human through these three relationships can also reveal the ethical meaning of co-existence in Zhuangzi’s philosophy.
