Abstract

       Xiao Erya, a small Chinese dictionary in ancient China, has long been neglected, particularly in comparison with the attention scholars have paid to Erya. In fact, it has irreplaceable value. This paper summarizes the research history of Xiao Erya since its first appearance, so that scholars make full use of the old dictionary and research it more deeply. The full text consists of three parts:(1) the research of Xiao Erya before the Qing Dynasty, (2) the research of Xiao Erya during the Qing Dynasty and the rearch of Xiao Erya since the beginning of 20th century.
