Abstract

    Senior officials in the civil service were mainly selected by the Emperor Yongzheng. He interfered with the selection of the middle or junior officials by the “marking the names”, “making special assignments” and “selecting the service place”. He occasionally adjusted the selection of the monthly selected officials but he emphasized the selection of the eight banners officials.
